Enjoy Mindflo relaxing videos on your lunch break or whenever you feel frustrated, worried, or tensed and see the difference! Save this site and come back to it when you get a headache… forget the headache pills.

Did you know that short daily meditation or relaxation breaks during your busy day are incredibly useful for consistently relieving your stress and pain? Give it a try and find out for yourself!

Here is a little trick that works for me. At the start of a video think of a question, problem or issue that is concerning you. Now just watch and listen to the Mindflo Music Video of your choice. The trick is to not think about the concerns you stated to yourself at the beginning of the session. Just let it all go. Don’t think any more about it and let your sub-conscious work on the issue for a while. I think you will be surprised with the results.

We all have a little stress in our lives. But after studying nerve cells in a banana-shaped area of the brain called the hippocampus, a hub for learning and memory, neuroscientists say chronic stress can have devastating effects on our brains.

Bruce McEwen, professor and head of the neuroendocrinology laboratory at the Rockefeller University, explains more about the hippocampus: “It’s a structure that is very important for remembering where you were and what you were doing when something important happened; in other words, providing context. For example, remembering where we were and what we were doing on September 11, 2001— that’s a function of the hippocampus. The reason that we remember that horrible day is that another brain structure very close to the hippocampus, called the amygdala, is a structure that reacts strongly to emotionally-charged events, either very positive or very negative events.”

McEwen and his team, who published their research in the February, 2003 issue of Nature Neuroscience, looked at the brain cells of both stressed and not-so-stressed mice, and found something interesting about the brains of stressed-out mice. “[Nerve cells] have these wonderful trees [with branches] that are called dendrites, places where other nerve cells make connections and transmit chemical signals,” says McEwen. These cells connect to each other at junctions called synapses. “When we look at these individual nerve cells from an animal that’s stressed or not stressed, we could see some very characteristic changes. For example, the branches become shorter and less branched, as a result of repeated stress. That means there are fewer synaptic connections, and it means these cells are not receiving as much information as they normally do. When you look at many of these cells you realize that many of the cells in this brain area called the hippocampus show this shrinkage after repeated stress.”

We could try to cope with stress by going out and relaxing and enjoying a hobby, enjoying friends, exercising, going on a vacation, all of these can push our bodies in the right direction.

The mind seems to believe any stimuli that is presented to it. This key mental function is one of the reasons Mindflo video programs can assist in an advantageous way. Mindflo’s calming imagery and soothing music work together to relax the mind and assist in achieving a meditative deep relaxation experience. You can easily put Mindflo to the test. On this site are samples of every Mindflo program.

This is an interesting quote I found on line about Oyster Point Dentistry in Newport News, Virginia.

“To enhance and ensure a relaxing and rewarding dental experience, Oyster Point Dentistry offers soothing audio and visual technology services at no extra charge. This service is most valued by our patients with general anxiety about dental care, however, all patients value the use of this technique to relax throughout the dental care experience.”

Interesting how audio and visual technologies are working for Oyster Point Dentistry patients. Many branches of the medical professions have come to realize the benefits of applying relaxing meditative technologies to help people.

For a long time we have known that when we become stressed, our bodies engage in something called the “fight or flight response.” The fight or flight response refers to changes that occur in the body when it prepares to either fight or run. These changes include increased heart rate, blood pressure, and rate of breathing, and a 300 – 400% increase in the amount of blood being pumped to the muscles. Over time, these reactions raise cholesterol levels, disturb intestinal activities, and depress the immune system. In general, they leave us feeling “stressed out.”

However, we also possess the opposite of the fight or flight response, the “relaxation response.” This term, first coined in the mid 1970s by a Harvard cardiologist named Herbert Benson, refers to changes that occur in the body when it is in a deep state of relaxation. These changes include decreased blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and rate of breathing, as well as feelings of being calm and in control. Learning the relaxation response helps to counter ill effects of the fight or flight response and, over time, allows the development of a greater state of alertness. The relaxation response can be developed through a number of techniques, including meditation and progressive muscle relaxation. It is now a recommended treatment for many stress related disorders. Mindflo music video programs are designed to introduce a state of relaxation in an effortless way to the viewer. It’s just like watching TV except the designed function is to assist the viewer in a healthful way.

So, what ate relaxation techniques good for? Research suggests that meditation can help improve a person’s quality of life and reduce stress hormone levels.

Clinical studies also show that relaxation techniques reduce the perception of pain. One clinical study found that among patients undergoing colorectal surgery, those who listened to guided imagery tapes before, during, and after the operation had less pain and needed fewer pain medications than those who did not. Another found that relaxation practices, such as deep breathing, progressive relations, and visualization enhanced the immune response among breast cancer patients.

Meditation has also been used as part of the treatment for post traumatic stress disorder in Vietnam veterans and to break substance abuse patterns in drug and alcohol abusers. Relaxation techniques can also enhance coping skills in migraine sufferers and reduce stress, as well as improve mood in those with cancer.

In general, studies show that with consistent practice, relaxation techniques can potentially reduce symptoms or improve outcomes in the following conditions:

Premenstrual syndrome

Pain

Irritable bowel syndrome

Anxiety

Infertility

High blood pressure

High cholesterol

Diabetes

Panic disorders

Chronic tension headaches

Fibromyalgia

Insomnia

Psoriasis

Arthritis

Hyperactivity in children, as in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

It is extremely important that usual medical care and advice be followed for these conditions as well. Relaxation techniques such as Mindflo videos are meant to complement usual medical care. Please check out the sample Mindflo music videos on this site and see for yourself what the benefits may be.

Listening to music combined with visuals as a meditation practice can be a very powerful practice. Don’t you have to have your eyes closed to meditate? Yes, you can do it that way but there are very useful additions. You learn 80-90% of what you know through vision science tells us. That being the case why not take advantage of vision when starting a relaxation and meditative exercise. Now you can, and Mindflo has been created to help you do just that.

When you watch and listen to a Mindflo program you will notice they are filled with slow smooth scenes edited in a fashion that draws you in to the experience. Without distracting you with fast editing and hard turns in the visual content you move deeper into a relaxed state of mind.

If you’re going to listen to music and watch visuals as meditation then you will want to take it seriously as a practice. Try not to do anything else at the same time. Don’t work, or read, or balance your checkbook while you’re watching and listening. Switch off your phone. Darken the room. Just watch and listen. Make sure you’re in a comfortable position that supports alert attention. Sit or lean back comfortably, and just pay attention to the experience. You’ll probably find that you enjoy it like never before.

We all know that relaxation is good for us. Hard science has now caught up. A comprehensive scientific study showing that deep relaxation changes our bodies on a genetic level has just been published.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School discovered that, in long-term practitioners of relaxation methods such as yoga and meditation, far more “disease-fighting genes” were active, compared to those who practiced no form of relaxation.

In particular, they found genes that protect from disorders such as pain, infertility, high blood pressure and even rheumatoid arthritis were switched on. The changes, say the researchers, were induced by what they call “the relaxation effect”, a phenomenon that could be just as powerful as any medical drug but without the side-effects. The good news is you don’t have to be a master meditator to get started. Mindflo videos are amazing in that they only asks that you watch. The video programs are designed to put you in a calm relaxed state of mind effortlessly.

“We found that a range of disease-fighting genes were active in the relaxation practitioners that were not active in the control group,” explains Dr Herbert Benson, associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, who led the research. The good news for the control group with the less-healthy genes is that the research didn’t stop there. The experiment, which showed just how responsive genes are to behavior, mood and environment, revealed that genes can switch on, just as easily as they switch off. “Harvard researchers asked the control group to start practising relaxation methods every day,” explains Jake Toby, hypnotherapist at London’s BodyMind Medicine Centre, who teaches clients how to induce the relaxation effect. “After two months, their bodies began to change – the genes that help fight inflammation, kill diseased cells and protect the body from cancer, all began to switch on.” More encouraging still, the benefits of the relaxation effect were found to increase with regular practice – the more people practised relaxation methods such as meditation or deep breathing, the greater their chances of remaining free of arthritis and joint pain with stronger immunity, healthier hormone levels and lower blood pressure.

Benson believes the research is pivotal because it shows how a person’s state of mind affects the body on a physical and genetic level. Getting started sometimes can be a tricky proposition. When you feel stressed you many times don’t feel relaxed or at all like relaxing. Thats where the nature metaphor and health building simplicity of Mindflo can help. It works better if you don’t try too hard. Mindflo videos are designed to effortlessly move you into a relaxed state of mind.

But just how can relaxation have such wide-ranging and powerful effects? Research around the world has described the negative effects of stress on the body. Linked to the release of the stress-hormones adrenalin and cortisol, stress raises the heart rate and blood pressure, weakens immunity and lowers fertility.

By contrast, the state of relaxation is linked to higher levels of feel-good chemicals such as serotonin and to the growth hormone which repairs cells and tissue. Indeed, studies show that relaxation has virtually the opposite effect, lowering heart rate, boosting immunity and enabling the body to thrive.

Relaxation, on the other hand, is a state of rest, enjoyment and physical renewal. Free of danger, muscles can relax and food can be digested. The heart can slow and blood circulation flows freely to the body’s tissues, feeding it with nutrients and oxygen. While relaxation techniques can be very different, their biological effects are essentially similar. “When you relax, the parasympathetic nervous system switches on and that is linked to better digestion, memory and immunity, among other things,” explains Jake Toby. “So as long as you relax deeply, you’ll reap a variety of rewards.” Please take advantage of the free Mindflo sample found on this site. See if the Mindflo approach is not right for you.

Mindflo DVD’s offer an easy and effective way to relax and enter a meditative state. Researchers say up to 80-90% of what you know is learned through the eyes. Combine that with the right music and sounds and you have a sensory delivery system ready to go to work for you. Mindflo provides a relaxing experience with just the right sight and sound stimulus to open the senses towards a truly relaxing experience. These programs have been carefully filmed, edited and scored to really make a positive difference in the mind of the viewer. Just take a look at the samples you will find on this site and see and hear for yourself.

Mitchell Gaynor, M.D., Medical Oncologist, Director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at the Strang-Cornell Cancer Prevention Center and New York Hospital says that, “Sound enters the healing equation from several directions: It may alter cellular functions through energetic effects; it may entrain biological systems to function more homeostatically; it may calm the mind and therefore the body; or it may have emotional effects, which influence neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, which in turn help to regulate the immune system–the healer within.” Now combine the benefits of sound with the right visuals and you have the parts coming together in a synergistic way to gain a true meditative relaxed state. The doorway is now opening and Mindflo can provide a key.

Everyone is looking for a little peace in their life. Mindflo is designed to create a real feeling of peace and calm, key to achieving a meditative state. Meditation is arguably one of the best overall ways to support emotional health by reducing stress, anxiety, panic, sleep difficulty, and even depression. Doctor Gaynor as well as other scientific researchers have shown that meditation has effects in the brain and body that might explain why this ancient practice could play a vital role in balancing a healthy lifestyle. In the end it’s all about good mental health. Finding solutions for stress, anxiety, depression and sleeping problems can be aided by calming the mind and reaching a meditative state. Mindflo can help. Mindflo videos are calming, relaxing and meditative.

Absorb yourself in watching and this can help open positive effects for your mind, body and relationships. So many benefits have been verified by scores of research studies conducted at top medical schools and published in hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific journals. The question really isn’t can it work but rather shall I put it to work.

No Belief Required

Mindflo assisted meditation does not involve belief. In fact, you can be thoroughly skeptical and the technique will still be fully effective.

Stress Reducer

Research has shown that Meditation can contribute to an individual’s psychological and physiological well-being. This is accomplished as Meditation brings the brainwave pattern into an alpha state, which is a level of consciousness that promotes the healing state. There is scientific evidence that meditation can improve blood pressure and relieve pain and stress. Take a look at these well established categories of benefits: physiological benefits and psychological benefits.

Physiological Benefits of Meditation

Deep rest-as measured by decreased metabolic rate, lower heart rate, and reduced work load of the heart.

Lowered levels of cortisol and lactate-two chemicals associated with stress.

Reduction of free radicals- unstable oxygen molecules that can cause tissue damage.

Improved blood pressure.

Higher skin resistance. Low skin resistance is correlated with higher stress and anxiety levels.

Drop in cholesterol levels. High cholesterol is associated with cardiovascular disease.

Improved flow of air to the lungs resulting in easier breathing. This has been very helpful to asthma patients.

Slows down the aging process.

Psychological Benefits of Meditation

Increased brain wave coherence.

Greater creativity.

Decreased anxiety.

Decreased depression

Decreased irritability and moodiness

Improved learning ability and memory.

Increased self-actualization.

Increased feelings of vitality and rejuvenation.

Increased happiness.

Increased emotional stability.

Looking at this list makes a convincing statement for relaxation and meditation. The Mindflo video programs makes it about as easy as it gets. Sit in a darkened room, establish a quiet atmosphere, concentrate on the Mindflo images and clear your mind. Don’t work too hard at it. Mindflo has been designed to naturally place your mind in a meditative relaxed state.
